Sandra Cancino

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Sandra Cancino has enjoyed the art of drawing as far as she can remember. After relocating to San Luis Potosi, Mexico, Cancino took courses at the Mask Museum in 1997 where she learned the traditional Mexican art process of paper mache (Cartoneria), mask-making, and alebrijes. She enjoys working with simple objects until she is able to give greater meaning through artistic complexity of design, shape, and individuality, all of which is seen in her fantastic creatures and hybrid animals.  -  Courtesy of The Brownsville Herald
